Augustwedding2010's Blog

Check out my new blog!

http://www.newlywediary.weebly.com

Can you believe it? I certainly can’t! I am almost in 10 day forecast territory!! I’m a ball of stress, but yesterday & today I took 2 hours in the morning to float in the pool on my little raft =P. Today was perfect, for about the first 45 mins the pool was open it was just me & FI — blissful silence & a pool to myself = Heaven!

I made the favors this weekend — luckily FI was awesome & helped me as much as he could in between studying. They came out great & best part these candy bars benefit the Relay for Life!

I also have almost everything packed up & ready to go for the Molly Pitcher next week. Are guest list is safely resting at 101 + 2 children (our minimum is 100 adults). We may have a drop out, but we will still be okay. One less worry!

Well I got more things to do before this weekend is over — later!

Honestly, these past few days have been bad. I’m a very stressed out bride. There is so much looming over my head that I just want to be done. I know it will all get done, but I honestly just need a big break. I’ve dealt with more drama in the past few days than I have dealt with my entire engagement. I think it’s calming down, but now I just keep thinking of everything that is left most of which has to get done this weekend!! HOLY CRAP!!

Not only is my “wedding life” crazy work has been crazy too now that everyone has come to & realized there is only 2 weeks until I’m out for the wedding. I wish I could go into a cave until all this last minute BS was over, but alas I am stuck here trying not lose it.

So I think I’ve gotten a lot accomplished since we last spoke…for one I had my final (surprise) dress fitting. I thought I had one more to go, but apparently this was it & it’s now safe & sound in my parent’s house.

Don’t mind the eyes — my mom caught me off guard!

And my lovely bustle 🙂

I can’t wait to put it on for my wedding day — it’s gonna be awesome!! 🙂

Oh and I finally got photos of my lovely flower girls in their dress & they are so freaking cute — I die!

These little girls certainly put a huge smile on my face after all this wedding stress I’ve been feeling 🙂

Tim and I also made a basic trip itinerary for our honeymoon & booked some activities. I’m super excited for everything so far & know we are going to have a flipping awesome time on my dream vacation! 🙂

We will be snorkeling with the dolphins…

We’ll be taking private surfing lessons…

We’ll be taking another snorkel cruise on the Big Island…

And of course relaxing with a Mai Tai on a sunset sail…

Next time I will be posting pictures from my bachelorette party this weekend 🙂

I don’t want to go into specifics, but this week the flood gates opened & I’ve been bombarded with wedding related crap. At one point during the week I was ready to throw up my hands & say “I’m done”, but like Tim’s mom says “I care” & sometimes a little too much. Saturday was a rainy day, but that meant I could get wedding stuff done without missing my pool/beach time. I ended up meeting my mom at Costco & picked up a bunch of stuff for our out of town bags. I almost didn’t do these, but I’m glad I did — they were cheap, easy to make & I think people will like them!

The goodies…
The look..

Tim & I also loaded up on clothing from Old Navy for the honeymoon….all that is left on that front is buying luggage, booking activities, last minute toiletries, magazines, etc.

I know this is “the beginning of the end”…next is the oh so dreaded seating chart/hunting down lazy RSVPers! I also have to get my favors in order — the last big DIY project. I’m also super excited for my bachelorette party next weekend!! 🙂

I will check in soon so long as the wedding doesn’t swallow me whole!

Thanks to Steph I’ve one my first blog award! Now I need to write 7 little known facts…this could be harder than it looks, but I will give it a go.

1.  I’ve never left the country & I don’t have a passport. I’m hoping next year will be the year I’m able to get outta the USA!

2. I don’t like driving far distances especially by myself. I usually make Tim drive because I am not a huge fan of driving…

3. I’ve never gone to the movie theater alone. I used to have a boyfriend who did it all the time & I found it rather strange lol.

4. I’m obsessed with facebook, e-mail & my iphone — I need to join a support group!

5. I have no idea what I want to be “when I grow up”.

6. I haven’t saved any money in months…damn wedding!

7. Despite the fact I haven’t saved money Tim has a really good amount of money in savings, enough to buy a house, but we are waiting till he gets a job he likes.

Silverneurotic — it’s your turn!

Okay I am officially feeling overwhelmed. I really wish there was some magic wedding fairy who would come in & get everything done for me. Now it’s down to the nitty gritty — the “Can so & so come to the wedding?” (even though I’ve never met them). Oh and a groomsman who can’t make the wedding — for legit reasons, but still another problem I have to take care of. I’m at the point where I don’t want to do anything, but still feel like I have EVERYTHING left to do.

Here is my list of to dos for this month — the frikkin last month!!

Yep so I gotta get started on all that & not go bridezilla in the next 4 weeks!!

Again, I was really nervous for this day as well….mainly because I just didn’t know how everything was going to turn out. I did make one mistake…I ended up washing my hair the day of & as a result my hair didn’t hold quite as well as it should have. I think with a couple tweaks everything will look great the day of. Without further ado here are the pictures….

Please don’t mind the poor lighting & the dress still needs alterations, to be pressed, etc.!

This is the sample of my veil — my veil is in, but I’ll have to wait to see it on the 12th.

The shoes! =P

What do ya think? I definitely want more curls to the front, but I think that will come naturally if I don’t wash my hair =P

Now that my thank you cards are in the mail, most of my gifts are packed away I finally have the time to write a proper re-cap of my shower.

The preparation started on Friday after work – I jetted over to the mall to pick up some shower hostess gifts from Bath & Body Works. It was the start of their semi-annual sale so I was able to get a few things on the cheap for my lovely BMs, FMIL & Mom. Here is what they received (each gift was personalized to the scent they like).

Then on Saturday I got my nails done & relaxed by the pool during the afternoon. Later that evening I squeezed in another WR project — the memorial table! Check it out 🙂

Sunday I got up way too early — I just couldn’t sleep & started to get ready for my shower. I was nervous because my dress was a little loose — I lost another pound or so since I bought it, but it looked good & everyone loved it.

When I arrived to my mom’s house everything was decorated so nicely inside & already a lot of people were there! 🙂 It was so nice to see everyone & catch up!

Tim’s cousins & aunts waiting for someone to arrive…I wonder who it could be…

I made it! Giving my mom a hug while Cass & my sister look on…

Saying hi to everyone with my fancy purse Karly hand-made.

Grabbing a mimosa with my bridesmaids! 🙂

Next I grabbed my bridesmaids & college friends for a couple photos to break the ice & yeah I was having a good time…

Then it was time to open gifts & I got a ton of goodies 🙂 After I opened up my gifts my bridesmaids created a quiz about me (and Tim) for our guests to answer & win prizes. The top 3 winners were ALL on Tim’s side of the family!

The best part of the day was a card from Tim’s mom welcoming to the family, thanking me for loving her son & signing it “Love, Mom Maguire” — so cute! I have to admit I almost cried =P

Tim and I spent most of Sunday & Monday unpacking our goodies. We also received a recipe book filled with recipes from our guests — they all look so yummy! It was awesome to get all these new things to fill up our kitchen with — I think I may have to learn to cook (at least a little bit!).

Here is the video my bridesmaid made from the shower…she rocks!

I can’t believe I made it this far without a mental breakdown haha. I finished addressing all my invites, but I am waiting to make sure my mom receives her wedding invite before sending out the rest. I don’t want 60 invites returned to me because the post office didn’t use enough postage! I counted & we have approximately 138 potential guests but are hoping/most likely will have 100 guests.

Sunday is my shower — I’m SO excited! I’ve been waiting so long for this 🙂  I am even more excited to see friends/family I don’t see everyday all in one place.

Oh & everyone can breath a sigh of relief — my mom ordered her dress! Granted it’s ETA is not until July 30th, but the lady at the dress shop thinks it will arrive sooner/not need many if any alterations.

Oh & the BMs dresses are in! *yippee!!*

So stay tuned for photos of my shower & then my 2nd fitting/hair + makeup trial. These next two weeks (hell 8 weeks) are going to be a roller coaster, but I am going to try & enjoy the ride. 🙂
